The Wonders of Creation: 100 MORE Devotions About God & Science by Louie Giglio [Book Review & Giveaway]

Science and Christianity have always had this ongoing battle of which one is right. Is science right? Is the Bible right? Why does it have to be one over the other? Or does it...

In the newest installation of the Indescribable Kids series from well known author Louie Giglio comes the fun and amazing book filled with 100 devotions that your science loving kiddo will fall in love with. Science...faith...both...all in one book for you and your young child to read and connect over.

Giglio is known for combine science and the bible, but extends his writing portfolio with this engaging, fun, STEM filled book. The devotions are short, but filled with scientific facts combined with biblical knowledge. They range in subjects such as animals, space, people, earth, and many more. There are also fun facts that I know your kiddo will love such as: animals don't blush, the first person to witness a solar flare, along with some experiments that you can do together including how germs spread.

What I really love about this book besides the bright, engaging illustrations from illustrator Nicola Anderson and real like photography is the fact that this book has more uses than just reading it as a devotional. Since this is based on STEM you can easily incorporate this book into your homeschooling curriculum. With each devotional being numbered, you can use one for each day of your homeschooling schedule or alternate days. If you have a child that loves science during their school year, this book would be perfect. Another idea would be to use this as a bridge for your summer schedule instead of your normal year. Honestly, there are many ways to implement this book into your curriculum.

If you want more ideas, you can click here and download the parent discussion guide that goes along with the book for free. Enjoy this free gift from the publishers and use it to help you get the most out of the devotional that you can.

God With Us: A Journey Home by Jeremy Pierre [Book Review]

This world that we so desperately cling to is not our home. We know this. We know that our true home is with God in his glorious kingdom, but yet we cling to our physical world. What if we were taught at an early age that we should be longing to return home to be with God and that this world is just one that we are passing through. One where we take a glorious journey, but only temporary reside in?

God With Us: A Journey Home by Jeremy Pierre, illustrated by Cassandras Clark is a beautiful expression of this exact concept. Pierre and Clark take children on an imaginative journey filled with God's amazing story and lovely illustration that range from what looks like pen drawings to bright, watercolor images. The writing itself is short and almost poem like, but not rhyming, which I found was very nice.

As a mom, I have always wanted to read through the entire bible in a year with my children and this makes it available for younger children that might not want to sit too long to read larger passages to accomplish that. The shorter text coupled with the gorgeous images will keep your children interested and engaged with God's glorious story. If you want to study more, or are reading with an older child, you could use the scripture references at the beginning of each chapter to dig a little deeper into the biblical story you are reading about.

This is a beautiful re-telling of the most beautiful story ever told.”

Reading Well: Finding the Good Life through Great Books

I am a little bitter this book can a little too late for my kiddos seeing as they are a little out of the age range, but it is still a great book that I think many children will enjoy, even if they are somewhat out of the intended age range. Like I said before you could use this ALONG with a bible to enhance your study time with your old grade school kid.

This stunning book would make a wonderful addition to your bedtime routine, prayer time with your kids, or even during the Christmas season to help place your family's focus upon God. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this book as it's more amazing and would be a wonderful book for every family.

Help your children learn early that we are just passing though this world. We do not belong here, but instead with God. We are just on a learning journey as we walk the path towards home.

Buy your copy here. It's a great addition to your children's library.

Roar Like A Lion by Levi Lusko | Review and Giveaway

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and

wait for the LORD. ~Psalm 27:14

The world that we live in can be a scary place sometimes, but for kids it can be even scarier. We all need God to help anchor us and give us courage and to hold us stead in these quickly changing times. One of the newest resources that I have generously received the chance to review is the new book from Levi Lusko titled Roar Like A Lion. Roar Like A Lion was written to help give courage. It includes 90 devotions to encourage your child to be more courageous in their faith and life, in both the highs and lows that life will have along their path.

First I want to talk about the devotions in this amazing new book. Yes, I think it's amazing.

What I loved about the devotions was that they speak to kids on a level they can relate to. Since the age group this devotional is targeted to is 6-10, the devotions are not over complicated or too long to read. They start off with a bible verse. The devotions are short and based on issues that children in this age range would be facing in their lives. They are very relatable and understandable and cover topics such as dealing with grief, their place in God's amazing story, how to handle peep pressure, and so many more topics that kids face daily.

One of the other things I love is that the devotions have a side bar that you can use for some discussion time with your little one. This will help you expand on what they just read and you can then offer more of God's words of wisdom to help clarify or have longer discussion with your children. The other small detail that I think is wonderful is the short prayer at the end of the devotion for your children to pray. Start them young praying for everything helps later in life and the small prayers are quick and meaningful.

The other amazing feature that Lusko thought about when creating this book was the illustrations. The illustrations are by Catherine Pearson and they are absolutely beautiful and eye catching. As you can see from the cover and the image above the illustrations are bright, colorful and so fun! They are very age appropriate and perfect for this book. What's even more fun about the illustrations is that hidden thought the pictures are anchors for your child to find. They are not on every page, but looking for the anchor is a great way to get your child engaged in the devotion and the quality time with you.

Overall, this is a perfect devotional for your primary school age child. I honestly can not find anything about this devotional that I didn't like. Even the cover is perfect. It's a hard cover and will take the bumps and thumps that your child could put it through.

Make sure you go order your copy NOW! Light a fire of courageous faith in your little one.
