I have always been the type of person to collect bibles. I don't think you can ever have enough of them. Each one has it's own distinct features that set it apart from the others. The distinct features theme is carried on with the newest release from Zonderkidz in the form a beautiful new bible set titled NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls. I am in love with this new set. It is the perfect mix of a bible translation that you know and love, the NIV translation, and attention grabbing extras that any young girl would love.
Let’s start from the outside and work our way in. The packaging of this set lends it to make the perfect gift for the young girl in your life. The bible, stickers, and colored pencils come in a hard, sturdy cardboard box that can easily be wrapped or put into a gift bag. It opens up like a book and makes the best presentation package for this wonderful bible. The intended age demographic for this set is for young ladies from the ages 8-12, but I feel that this could be extended a bit lower, depending on your child’s reading ability, to a little bit older. It seems to have an appeal to a wider range than what is the initial intention.
On to the bible…The bible, as mentioned above is the very trusted NIV translation so you can put your faith in the version that your daughter will be reading. The print size is great and easy to read at a font size of 8. It’s not too small, but not too big. The cover of the set calls it “Easy to read Comfort Print.” The NIV bible is set between a gorgeous teal cover that feels so soft, but shockingly robust for a bible cover. It feels like the cover of a soft, leather bound bible, with the structure of a hard bound bible. It’s like having the best of both worlds.
Inside the bible, and what makes this a unique presentation, is the fact that there is room in the margins for taking notes or journaling on some pages, but on others, there is a beautiful illustration to color. The margin illustrations aren’t the only ones in this bible though, as there are some full page ones as well. Overall, there are 600+ illustrations to color in as your child studies through the bible. What a great way to make sure that scripture sinks deep into their hearts and will be tucked away.
Along with the wonders that are inside this bible, it comes with a couple little extras that I, and my daughter, found as perfect additions to this set.
When you get the set, you will also get 4 colored pencils that you can use to color the bible illustrations, OR use to color the stickers that come with the bible. I just love the addition of the 6 pages of stickers. They are beautiful and full of God’s word, just ready for your little girl to stick all over the place. If you have to have stickers everywhere, at least they are stickers that have God’s words, right?!?!?!
I loved this set and think that it defiantly lives up to it’s name “Beautiful Word.” Since we are nearing the holidays I think this would be a wonderful Christmas present for the Jesus loving girl in your life. My daughter wanted me to include her thoughts on this bible as well as my own and she had to say that she LOVED it. She started reading and coloring it immediately after I opened it. The only criticism that she had was she wished there was a green colored pencil included in the set along with the red, yellow, blue and purple pencils. I think this bible has just become her favorite.
